Audit Logging

Web.Casa maintains a comprehensive audit log that automatically records every significant operation performed in the panel. The audit log provides accountability, traceability, and security monitoring.

Every action that creates, modifies, or deletes a resource generates a log entry, including:

  • User management — account creation, role changes, password resets, deletion
  • Host operations — create, update, delete reverse proxy hosts
  • DNS provider changes — add, edit, remove DNS providers
  • Certificate actions — issue, renew, revoke certificates
  • Docker operations — container start, stop, restart, remove
  • Database operations — create, delete databases and users
  • Backup & restore — backup creation, restore execution
  • Firewall changes — rule additions, modifications, removals
  • System settings — configuration changes, Caddy reloads
  • Authentication events — successful logins, failed login attempts, 2FA events

Each audit log entry contains the following fields:

FieldDescription
ActionThe type of operation performed (e.g., create, update, delete, login)
TargetThe resource or entity affected by the action
DetailAdditional context about the operation
IP AddressThe source IP address of the user who performed the action
TimeTimestamp of when the action occurred
UserThe username of the account that performed the action

The audit log interface in the panel provides:

  • Filter by action type — narrow results to specific operations (e.g., only delete actions)
  • Total count display — shows the total number of matching log entries
  • Chronological listing — entries displayed in reverse chronological order
  • Paginated navigation — browse through large log histories
  • Admin users can view the full audit log
  • Viewer users can view audit logs in read-only mode
  • Audit log entries cannot be modified or deleted through the panel interface

Audit log data is stored in the SQLite database alongside other panel data at /var/lib/webcasa/webcasa.db. The audit log is included when you use the panel’s export functionality.

Tip: For environments with compliance requirements, regularly export your audit logs for archival. Use Settings > Export to create a full backup that includes audit data.
