Restore
Web.Casa provides a snapshot-based restore interface. Browse available snapshots, inspect their contents, and restore data with a confirmation workflow that guards against accidental overwrites.
Snapshot Management
Section titled “Snapshot Management”Viewing Snapshots
Section titled “Viewing Snapshots”Navigate to the Backup section to see all available snapshots. Each snapshot displays:
- Snapshot ID — unique identifier
- Creation time — when the backup was taken
- Backup scope — what data the snapshot contains (Panel, Docker Volumes, Database Dumps)
Filtering Snapshots
Section titled “Filtering Snapshots”Use the filter by ID field to search for a specific snapshot when the list is long.
Deleting Snapshots
Section titled “Deleting Snapshots”- Select the snapshot you want to remove.
- Click Delete.
- Confirm the action.
Deleted snapshots cannot be recovered. Only delete snapshots you are certain you no longer need.
Restoring from a Snapshot
Section titled “Restoring from a Snapshot”Step-by-Step
Section titled “Step-by-Step”- Navigate to Backup > Restore.
- Select the snapshot to restore from.
- Review the snapshot contents.
- Click Restore.
- Read the confirmation dialog carefully — it warns that existing data will be overwritten.
- Confirm to start the restore process.
Restoring overwrites current data. Make sure you have selected the correct snapshot and understand which files will be replaced.
What Gets Restored
Section titled “What Gets Restored”The restore scope depends on what was included in the original backup:
| Backup Scope | Restores |
|---|---|
| Panel | Web.Casa database and Caddyfile configuration |
| Docker Volumes | Docker volume data back to their original locations |
| Database Dumps | SQL dumps that can be re-imported into database instances |
Snapshot Logs
Section titled “Snapshot Logs”Each snapshot has associated logs that record the backup operation details:
- Level — info, warning, or error
- Timestamp — when the log entry was created
- Message — description of the operation or issue
Access logs by selecting a snapshot and viewing its Logs tab. These are useful for diagnosing failed or incomplete backups.
Best Practices
Section titled “Best Practices”- Test restores periodically — verify that your backups actually work before you need them in an emergency
- Check snapshot logs after each backup to confirm success
- Keep multiple snapshots so you can choose the right recovery point
- Document your backup scopes so you know exactly what each snapshot contains
