Images & Registries

Note: Image management is now embedded within the Docker Overview page rather than being a standalone page. The information below describes all available image management capabilities accessible from the Docker Overview.

The Images module provides a complete interface for managing Docker images on your server — from pulling new images off Docker Hub to pruning unused ones to reclaim disk space.

The image dashboard displays all local images with the following details:

ColumnDescription
RepositoryImage name and tag (e.g., nginx:alpine)
Image IDUnique SHA256 identifier
SizeDisk space consumed
CreatedWhen the image was built
  • Sort by size to quickly identify images consuming the most disk space
  • Search by image name or tag to locate specific images
  • Images currently used by containers are clearly indicated

  1. Click Pull Image.
  2. Enter the image name and optional tag (e.g., nginx:latest, postgres:16-alpine).
  3. Click Pull.

Pull progress is displayed in real time, showing each layer’s download and extraction status.

Web.Casa includes a built-in Docker Hub search feature:

  1. Click Search or use the search bar in the Pull dialog.
  2. Enter a keyword (e.g., redis, mysql).
  3. Browse results showing image name, description, star count, and official status.
  4. Click Pull on any search result to download it directly.

If you are in mainland China and experience slow pulls, configure registry mirrors in Docker daemon settings. Web.Casa provides one-click presets for popular Chinese mirrors.

From the image list, you can launch a container directly:

  1. Click the Run action on any image.
  2. This opens the container creation form pre-filled with the selected image.
  3. Configure ports, volumes, environment variables, and other settings.
  4. Click Create to start the container.

Over time, unused images accumulate and consume disk space. Web.Casa provides a Prune function to clean them up:

  1. Click Prune Unused Images.
  2. Review the list of images that will be removed (images not referenced by any container).
  3. Confirm to reclaim disk space.

The prune operation reports:

  • Number of images removed
  • Total disk space reclaimed

Pruning only removes images that are not used by any container (running or stopped). It will not affect your active services.

ActionDescription
PullDownload an image from a registry
RunCreate and start a container from the image
DeleteRemove the image from the local store
PruneBulk-remove all unused images

Attempting to delete an image that is in use by a running or stopped container will trigger a confirmation warning to prevent breaking active services.

Docker daemon settings (accessible via Docker > Settings) allow you to configure:

Add mirror URLs to accelerate image pulls. Pre-configured options include:

  • China mirror presets — Aliyun, Tencent Cloud, USTC, and other popular Chinese mirrors with one-click setup

For private registries using HTTP instead of HTTPS:

  1. Navigate to Docker > Settings > Insecure Registries.
  2. Add the registry address (e.g., 192.168.1.100:5000).
  3. Save and restart the Docker daemon when prompted.
