PostgreSQL
Web.Casa provides full lifecycle management for PostgreSQL through Docker-based instances. Create, configure, and administer PostgreSQL databases entirely from the web panel.
Instance Management
Section titled “Instance Management”Each PostgreSQL instance runs as an isolated Docker container.
Creating an Instance
Section titled “Creating an Instance”- Navigate to Databases and click Create Instance.
- Select PostgreSQL as the engine.
- Configure the instance name and superuser password.
- Optionally select a preset (Development or Production).
- Click Create to spin up the container.
Instance Operations
Section titled “Instance Operations”| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| Start | Boot the container and accept connections |
| Stop | Gracefully shut down the instance |
| Delete | Remove the container and all associated data |
Deleting an instance is irreversible. Back up your databases before deleting.
Connection Info
Section titled “Connection Info”Each instance provides ready-to-use connection details in multiple formats:
- CLI command —
psqlcommand ready to paste into a terminal - Connection URI —
postgresql://user:password@host:port/dbnamefor application configs - Environment variable —
DATABASE_URL=...for.envfiles - Docker internal address — for services running in the same Docker network
Database Operations
Section titled “Database Operations”Creating a Database
Section titled “Creating a Database”- Open your PostgreSQL instance.
- Go to the Databases tab and click Create Database.
- Enter a database name.
- Configure character set options as needed.
- Click Create.
Dropping a Database
Section titled “Dropping a Database”Select a database from the list and click Drop. Confirm the action in the dialog.
Dropping a database permanently deletes all schemas, tables, and data within it.
User Management
Section titled “User Management”Creating a User
Section titled “Creating a User”- Go to the Users tab and click Create User.
- Set the username and password.
- Click Create.
Granting Database Access
Section titled “Granting Database Access”After creating a user, grant them access to one or more databases:
- Select the user from the list.
- Choose the target database(s).
- Click Grant Access.
Dropping a User
Section titled “Dropping a User”Select a user and click Drop to remove them and revoke all associated privileges.
Query Console
Section titled “Query Console”The built-in SQL console lets you execute queries against any PostgreSQL instance directly from the browser:
- Write and run SQL statements with results displayed in a tabular format
- Switch between instances and databases from a dropdown
- View query execution time and row counts
The query console is read-only — only
SELECT,SHOW,DESCRIBE, andEXPLAINstatements are allowed. The query console works across all PostgreSQL instances managed by Web.Casa.
Advanced Configuration
Section titled “Advanced Configuration”Fine-tune instance performance through the Settings tab. You can also apply a Development or Production preset as a starting point.
| Parameter | Description | Default (Dev) |
|---|---|---|
| Shared Buffers | Memory for caching data blocks | 64 MB |
| Work Mem | Memory per query operation (sort, hash) | 2 MB |
| Effective Cache Size | Planner’s estimate of OS disk cache available | 192 MB |
| WAL Level | Write-Ahead Log detail level (minimal, replica, logical) | replica |
| Slow Query Threshold | Log queries exceeding this duration | 2000 ms |
Production preset increases shared buffers, work memory, and effective cache size for higher throughput under concurrent workloads. Development preset uses conservative resource limits suitable for local work.
SQLite Browser
Section titled “SQLite Browser”In addition to PostgreSQL instances, Web.Casa includes a built-in SQLite browser for inspecting local .sqlite / .db files:
- Open SQLite files within the panel data directory (restricted to
.db,.sqlite,.sqlite3extensions) - Browse tables and data in read-only mode
- View schema definitions (tables, columns, indexes)
The SQLite browser is read-only and does not modify the original file.
